Brockenhurst, the name means “badgers wood”, is set amidst some of the loveliest forestland surroundings and is a much-visited village.
It is here that free roaming ponies; donkeys, cattle, pigs and ducks graze the open heath land and woods, which surround the village.
Getting around is easy, with good roads and intercity rail service. It is situated between Lyndhurst and Lymington via the A337.
Entering the town from the western end into the main shopping street, you have to negotiate the ford or water splash, as it's locally known.
The diversity of pubs, restaurants and shops make this a memorable stop over. |
